Why clearing PO can be easier than Clerical

It is a long post but i hope you will have the patience to go through it.....
When we start preparing for IBPS the 1st thing that comes to our mind is, it is more tough to bag a PO job than a clerical job.Well the actual scenario is a little different...
The reason behind this is the final merit list cut off(clearing which we get the job),for PO it is created on a all India basis,so it is same for all and it is lower, but the cut offs for clerical post is created statewise and the cut off for WestBengal goes very high.To understand this we need to know how the final cut off is prepared..
**How do we arrive at the final cut off?
Final cut off= written marks out of 200 multiplied with 0.4+ interview marks out of 100 multiplied with 0.2.
We will consider a person who has just cleared the cut off in written and assess his/her chances of getting the job for both the posts:-
FOR PO post:-
2014- written cut off out of 200 was 82. Final cut off was 49.6
so (82*0.4=32.8 ) + (84 *0.2 =16.8) =49.6
In other words a person who got 82 in written ,needed to get 84 or more out of 100 in the interview to clear final cut off.
FOR CLERICAL POST:-
2014- written cut off 131.Final cut off 73...
131*0.4=52.4,which means if this person gets 100/100 in his interview
52.4+(100*0.2)=72.4,he still wont clear the final cut off,he still wont get the job.
This is where the problem lies and this is why i know many people who have cleared PO exam this time, but not clerical.
Yes,the questions are tougher in PO exam, but they are tough for all,if the clerical questions are easy they are easy for all.If we look at cut offs clearing PO is a much more favourable option.....
So,the moral of the story is set your targets high.Stop doubting your abilities .If you prepare for PO ,you will anyway get prepared for clerical.
Your focus from now on should only and only be clearing for the officer post....
